The China Medical workers arrived at about 5pm on Wednesday 8 April 2020 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
A group of the Federal Government and Chinese embassy officials welcomed them. The medical doctors and nurses that came to Nigeria were about 15.
The doctors came with the donated supplies to help the country fight against COVID-19, according to Osagie Enahire, Minister of Health.
He said products like personal shielding equipment and ventilators were included with the items.
I have been informed by a group of Chinese companies operating in Nigeria of Chinese medical suppliers.
The flight is assisted by an 18-person team of Chinese medical experts including doctors, nurses and other medical advisors. I must applaud our frontline staff at this juncture, who are doing excellent work in case recognition and management.
The Chinese doctors ‘proposal had been squashed by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) to Nigeria, rather they ask the federal government to support Nigerian doctors to perform better.
The Nigerian Government said they can’t refuse China’s offer to support Nigeria during this difficult period.
Thereafter, the Nigerian doctors guaranteed that they would subject to the laws of their country and that they would have no access to coronavirus medication brought to the country.
